Sarbendra Sarkar is the Founder & Managing Director of Cygnett Hotels & Resorts and a hospitality veteran with over 33 years of industry experience. Recognized for his strategic vision and entrepreneurial leadership, he identified the immense potential of India's emerging cities long before regional markets became a major focus of the hospitality sector.

An Economics graduate from the University of Calcutta, Sarbendra also holds qualifications in Hotel Management, an MBA, and Executive Education from Cornell University. His career includes leadership roles with leading global hospitality companies, including IHG, ITC Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, and Louvre Hotels Group, where he spent more than 22 years in senior management positions.

In 2012, he founded Cygnett Hotels & Resorts with a vision to create a hospitality platform that would help hotel owners in Tier II, Tier III, and North-East India unlock the full potential of their assets through technology, branding, distribution, and operational excellence. Since launching operations in 2014, Cygnett has grown into a diversified hospitality company with more than 4,000 operational and pipeline keys.

Backed by its strategic alliance with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in South Asia, Cygnett continues to expand its portfolio and strengthen its position as a leading hospitality growth platform.

Under his leadership, Cygnett continues to expand across South Asia, driven by a strong belief in the long-term growth of regional hospitality markets.
